The founder Aage Rothenborg started the company, A/S Husquarna Fabrikernes Generaldepot, as the exclusive distributor of Husqvarna products in 1942, from a domicile at Nicolai Plads in Copenhagen.

On 20 May 1947, Aktieselskabet Rothenborg Specialmaskiner for Syindustrien was founded.

In 1973, Rothenborg was awarded the contract by Union Special and developed and patented the ROTAN stop motor, which made it possible to mount thread clips on stitching machines.

Later, the ROTAN bridle machine, color drill and band saw as well as various other aids were also developed and produced.

In 1977, Rothenborg A/S received the distribution of JUKI sewing machines in Denmark.

In 1985, the head office moved from Copenhagen to Ikast.

On 1 January 2006, the company was merged with ISM-Denmark, thereby expanding the product range with sewing machines from Brother, Yamato and Kansai Special. The production and sale of machines for sewing fishing nets, sandeel bags, sports nets, etc. is also continued.

In connection with the merger, Rothenborg also took over the ISM-Ukraine branch located in Lviv, Ukraine. This department makes it possible to provide support to both local companies and Danish companies that have production in Ukraine.

In January 2008, the company moved to its current address at Gudumkær 6 in Herning.

Rothenborg has continuously adapted to the development and with many years of experience we are today a total supplier with a broad product range and professional employees.
